How to embed a flipbook on your website

Copy a short snippet to show your flipbook on your own site. The options that matter: size, the toolbar, the start page, and what a visitor sees on a phone.

Sending people to a flipbook is good. Showing it on your own page, where they already are, is better. An embed puts the flipbook inside your website, so it reads like part of the page.

You need to be able to paste a snippet of HTML into your site. Most website builders have a block called Custom HTML or Embed for this.

Get the code

  1. Open the flipbook in the Studio and choose Share.
  2. Choose Customize embed.
  3. Pick your options. A preview shows exactly what visitors will see, and you can switch it between desktop, tablet and phone.
  4. Choose Copy code and paste it into your page.

The options that matter

Size.

  • Fit the page grows and shrinks with the screen. It shows a single page on a phone and a spread on a desktop. It adds a few lines of script and is the one to use if you can.
  • Fixed shape, no script keeps the same proportions at any width, with no script. Use it where your site does not allow scripts.
  • Fixed size gives you an exact width and height in pixels.

The toolbar. Show or hide it, and choose what it offers: title, contents, search, PDF download, page-turn sound, a go-to-page box, zoom and full screen. Without the toolbar, readers turn pages by clicking, swiping or the arrow keys.

Start on page. Open the flipbook at a page other than the first. Useful when a page of your site is about one section.

Good habits

  • Give it room. A flipbook squeezed into a narrow column is hard to read. Let it use the full width of your content.
  • Test it on a phone. Open your page and turn a few pages.
  • Keep the link nearby. Add a "Open full screen" link to the flipbook's own address for people who want more space.
  • Think about the download button. Turn off PDF download in the embed if you do not want it on that page.

The FlipbookIQ mark

On the free plan, embeds carry a small "Made with FlipbookIQ" mark. On the paid plans you can remove it, and add your own logo and colors.

When you update the document

Publish a new version in the Studio. The embedded flipbook on your site shows the new version, and you do not touch the page again. That is the reason to embed a flipbook instead of pasting a PDF link.

If it does not show

  • Some builders strip embedded frames. Look for a block meant for custom HTML.
  • A strict security setting on your site can block frames from other addresses. Ask whoever manages the site to allow flipbookiq.com.
  • A password on the flipbook means visitors are asked for it inside the embed.

You can also gather every flipbook on one bookshelf page and embed that, so visitors can browse them all.
